Qods Day (September 18)
Iranian claimed the Day for Iran
However, this year Iranians came out in millions and claimed the day for Iran. Chants like “Not Ghaza, Not Lebanon, I give my life for Iran” could be heard from northern city of Tabriz to Tehran. The confirmed list of cities that protested against the regime included Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz, Rasht, Ahvaz, Qom, Mashhad and Kerman. In the holly city of Qom, the focal center of religious learning of the Shi'a, shots were fired.
The Tehran protest was estimated in millions by Al Jazeera and callers from Tehran. The ABC News reported: "There were so many opposition supporters that the police were outnumbered and couldn't act.”Lack of government supporters was
so obvious that protesters start chanting “Liar, liar where is your 63%”. Referring
to 63% votes that Ahmadinejad claimed to receive in the recent election.
Both Karroubi and Mousavi were marching with protesters, as well as Khatami who was attacked by hardliners, photo bellow:
